Accessibility statement
Accessibility statement for MyCare.scot
This accessibility statement applies to the MyCare.scot application.
This application is run by Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this application. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the application using just a keyboard
- navigate most of the application using speech recognition software
- listen to most of the application using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the application text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this application is
Parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:
- unread messages are not communicated to screen reader users
- screen reader users are not informed when there is a new message appearing on the system
- users are not informed that external website links open in a new tab
- some PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software

Technical information about this application’s accessibility
Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) is committed to making its application accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Applications and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the following non-compliances (and/or) the following exemptions.
Non accessible content
The content is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Unread messages are not communicated to screen reader users. This fails WCAG Success Criterion 1.3.1 – Info and Relationships and 4.1.2 – Name, Role, Value.
Screen reader users are not informed when a new message appears on the application. This fails WCAG Success Criterion 4.1.3 Status Messages.
External links do not inform users that they open in a new tab. This fails WCAG Success Criterion 2.4.4 – Link Purpose (In Context).
Some document formats such as PDF, MS Word and Excel may not be fully accessible or the most user friendly on mobile. The long-term plan is to replace them with accessible HTML pages.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
Third-party services
Some features of this service are provided by third-party suppliers. These services were procured to support the application, but we do not have full control over their platforms. We encourage suppliers to meet accessibility standards, and we provide support to users where possible.
Queue-it
When demand is high, users may be directed to a virtual waiting room provided by Queue-it. While we do not manage this platform, you can view Queue-its own accessibility statement. If you have trouble accessing the waiting room, please contact us for assistance.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We are currently working to resolve the issues identified in this accessibility statement. These are intended to be added in a future update.
Since our previous accessibility audit, we have resolved the following issues:
- screen reader users are not informed when the countdown sequence to the sign out modal is activated
- PDF links do not inform users that they open in a new tab
- links are styled as buttons but are lacking the keyboard functionality that is part of a button HTML element
- colour is used as the only visual feedback on unread messages
- truncated text has been removed from the find a service page
This application uses the Scottish Government Design System which has accessible styles, components and patterns.
